Congratulations to our PI Ragnhild Muriaas and colleague Jana Birke Belschner from the Department of Comparative Politics on their new publication!

The book "Å studere kjønn og politikk" (Studying Gender and Politics) provides valuable insights into why political institutions are more inclusive in some countries than in others — and what consequences this has. Does gender shape political attitudes, interests, and ambitions?
Here is a short summary of the book's content:
Norway is one of the leading countries in the world when it comes to gender equality. While men make up 73 percent of members of parliaments globally, Norway has achieved relatively strong gender balance in politics.
This book explores the reasons why political institutions are more inclusive in some contexts and what this means in practice. It asks critical questions such as:
Does gender influence political attitudes, interests, and ambitions?
What is being done to create gender balance in politics?
Does gender affect leadership styles among politicians?
The book discusses these and related topics, offering a comprehensive overview of recent decades of research on gender and politics.
