Francesca (postdoc at SUCCESS) present the working paper " Do Politicians Discriminate Against Parents in Politics? Experimental Evidence from Norway" co-authored with professor Ragnhild Muriaas at DIGGSCORE tuesday seminar.

Abstract:

How do political elites perceive their peers who are parents? While voter biases against politicians with children are declining, less is known about whether political elites themselves exclude parent-politicians from decision-making processes. This study investigates whether politicians discriminate against their colleagues with young children and whether this bias is gendered. Using an experimental design in an elite survey of Norwegian municipal councilors, we examine whether politicians are less willing to collaborate with parents in high-intensity political settings. The findings contribute to the growing literature on gender, parenthood, and political representation, shedding light on hidden barriers within elite political networks.
