At the upcoming ECPR Joint Sessions of Workshops in Prague (20–23 May 2025), Ragnhild Louise Muriaas (University of Bergen) and Hilde Coffé (University of Bath) are convening the workshop “Beyond Parliamentary Recruitment: Gender and Pathways to Power and Influence.”

The workshop, sponsored by the ECPR Standing Group on Parliaments, brings together scholars exploring the structural and institutional factors that shape political influence beyond initial recruitment — with a focus on gendered dynamics.

The sessions will explore persistent gendered barriers in political institutions, including the “leaky pipeline” phenomenon, disparities in seniority, and the structural challenges that continue to limit women's influence even after electoral success
